Attorney General Raúl Labrador has announced that Alexander Moran, 39, was convicted of one count of Sexual Exploitation of a Child for Possessing Sexually Exploitative Material, one count of Sexual Exploitation of a Child for Producing Sexually Exploitative Material, and one count of Visual Representations of the Sexual Abuse of a Minor. The possession of sexually exploitative material is a felony punishable by up to ten years in prison. The production of sexually exploitative material is a felony punishable by up to thirty years in prison. Visual representations of the sexual abuse of children is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison. Moran was sentenced on June 3, 2026, by District Judge Matthew Roker.
In early 2026, the Idaho Internet Crimes Against Children Unit (ICAC) Task Force received a CyberTip showing Moran chatting with a 17-year-old female about sexually explicit things, eliciting nude photos from the female. Moran was already a registered sex offender from 2021 where he was convicted of possessing child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and released from parole in 2025. His phone also contained multiple files of CSAM, including AI/anime CSAM, and a search history related to CSAM.
Judge Roker sentenced Moran to total unified sentence of fifteen years fixed and forty-five years indeterminate. The court also ordered a civil penalty of $2500 to be paid to the female victim.
The investigation was led by Investigator Greg Lindsay with the ICAC unit, and forensic investigator Chris Hardin. The ICAC unit was assisted by various agencies, including Idaho Probation and Parole, Wright County Sheriff’s Office (Minnesota), and Nampa Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Madison Gourley.
