(Boise) – Attorney General Lawrence Wasden has announced an investigation conducted by members of the Idaho Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit led to the arrest of a Garden City man over the weekend.

19-year-old Arnold R. Reed was arrested Saturday, February 3, for alleged Sexual Exploitation of a Child. He was booked into the Ada County Jail.

The case began in June 2017 when the Garden City Police Department received a tip from a Missouri woman that Reed had allegedly sent sexually exploitative material over the internet. Garden City police referred the case to the Attorney General’s ICAC Unit for investigation. That investigation resulted in a warrant being issued for Reed’s arrest.

In addition to the Garden City Police Department, the Ada County Prosecutor’s Office and the St. Charles (MO) Police Department assisted the ICAC Unit with the case.

The Attorney General’s ICAC Unit is a resource for local law enforcement agencies throughout Idaho to assist in the handling of internet-related crimes against children.

Anyone with information regarding the exploitation of children is encouraged to contact local police, the Attorney General’s ICAC Unit at 208-334-4527, or the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at 1-800-843-5678.

The Attorney General’s ICAC Unit works with the Idaho ICAC Task Force, a coalition of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, to investigate and prosecute individuals who use the internet to criminally exploit children.
