Attorney General Raúl Labrador announced that investigators with the Idaho Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit arrested 18‑year‑old Samuel Costello on October 20, 2026. The charges are merely accusations at this stage; the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

The ICAC Unit was assisted in this arrest by the Boise Police Department, Meridian Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Nampa Police Department. The Attorney General’s ICAC Unit works in partnership with the Idaho ICAC Task Force, a coalition of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies dedicated to investigating and prosecuting individuals who use the internet to exploit children.

Parents, educators, and law enforcement professionals can find additional information and helpful resources at the ICAC website: ICACIdaho.org
